Midland Cemetery Rocks New Statement

The Metropolitan Cemeteries Board is pleased to reveal the new entry statement at Midland Cemetery marking 120 years of service to the Perth community with burial, cremation and entombment services.

The new entrance is designed to reflect the natural bushland environment, showcasing the retained jarrah and paperbark trees. Award winning Ecoscape Environmental Consultants and Landscape Architects met the brief of blending the natural environment of the cemetery to produce a understated contemporary acknowledgement of the Traditional Owners of Country.

Locally sourced moss rock has been utilised to fill the gabion wall and pillars, defining the entrance.  Pedestrian access has been included and additional parking bays allocated.

Midland Cemetery was established in December 1903 and initially managed by the Shire of Swan, prior to interest vested to the Metropolitan Cemeteries Board in June 1989. The cemetery has been caretaker to over 8160 burials, 1330 memorials and 35 entombments since establishment and continues to service the Perth community.
