Cremation & Memorials

If you are arranging a funeral for someone who has died, or planning a funeral in advance, a fundamental decision needs to be made as to whether you would prefer burial or cremation. Once this decision is made, there are many additional options available to suit the needs, beliefs and values of individuals, families, religious and cultural groups.

Cremation can be simply defined as the reduction of the body to ash. The Metropolitan Cemeteries Board offers cremation facilities at Karrakatta and Fremantle Cemeteries and Pinnaroo Valley and Rockingham Regional Memorial Parks.

A memorial is a commemoration generally established to commemorate a person who has been cremated. Options for memorialisation are as diverse as the individuals being commemorated.
