Lawn Burial row FreoThe Metropolitan Cemeteries Board (MCB) is the caretaker of Perth’s cemeteries, entrusted to commemorate the lives of all Western Australians respectfully and with dignity. As a statutory authority of the Government of Western Australia, the MCB is entirely self-funded ensuring a sustainable cemeteries network for Perth. We are responsible for managing cemeteries at Fremantle, Guildford, Karrakatta, Midland, Pinnaroo, Rockingham and Gnangara.

Our facilities honour loved ones according to their wishes, with cremation, burial, entombment, memorialisation and chapel services.

We create beautiful spaces where loved ones can be fondly remembered, celebrating the lives of those who have gone before us.

Our sustainable approach to planning and community engagement shapes our work to ensure we can meet the future burial, cremation and memorial needs of our diverse communities, by maintaining existing cemeteries and developing new sites.

The MCB formed in 1988, amalgamating the Karrakatta Cemetery Board and the Pinnaroo Valley Memorial Park Board.  In 1989, the MCB took over management of the Midland and Guildford Cemeteries from the Shire of Swan, followed by the Fremantle Cemetery Board in 2003. The MCB is responsible to the Hon. John Carey, MLA, Minster for Housing; and Local Government.  For a list of current Board members, please visit here
