Collection of Ashes and Alternatives

After the cremation, families may wish to establish a memorial at Pinnaroo. Soon after the funeral our Client Services staff will post you a memorial catalogue with information to assist with your selection. There are other alternatives to consider including:

Scattering of Ashes

Families may want to honour a wish for ashes to be scattered at a favourite beach or special location. We recommend that approval from a controlling authority be obtained before scattering ashes in a private or public place. Alternatively, ashes can be scattered within the grounds of the cemetery. Even though ashes may not be present, a memorial may still be arranged.

Placement of Ashes in a Family Grave

Ashes may be placed in a family grave. On traditional monumental gravesites no memorial is provided. However, you may arrange for a plaque or inscription on the existing headstone. Please contact our staff at the main office for details. Friends and relatives are welcome to attend the placement of ashes. A fee is charged for this service.

Collection of Ashes

Ashes may only be collected by the Administrator of the Funeral or an agent appointed by the administrator. The Administrator of the Funeral is the person who has signed the ‘Permit to Cremate.’ Twenty-four hours notice is required for collection.
