IMPORTANT NOTICE
Memories E-ternal - Cessation of Service
The Memories Eternal service was first made available to families in 2001 and was the first online memorial service offered in Australia. In the time that the service has been made available a small number of families have established memorials on the site however the majority of families are now establishing their own online tributes and utilising the myriad of technologies (You Tube, Facebook, Free Webs etc.) that, quite simply, didn’t exist when Memories Eternal was first developed.
In recent years the single biggest issue facing Memories Eternal has been that of ageing technology. Software developed in 2001 is, quite simply, unable to keep up with the demands of 2013 and beyond. Most notably, there have been emerging compatibility issues and the site will not function correctly on numerous modern computer systems. The overall functionality of the site is starting to decrease as compatibility issues multiply.
Given the issues associated with compatibility and the fact that families now have far superior online memorialisation options, the decision has been made to close Memories Eternal with effect from December 31 2012.
In preparation for the cessation of the service, Board staff wrote to all of the families with memorials on the site to offer an alternate online memorialisation presence. For those families from whom no response was received, the memorials have now been removed.
Copies of images and videos hosted within memorials on the site have now been archived. If you are responsible for one of the memorials that was previously hosted on Memories E-ternal and would like copies of these files we would ask that you contact Client Services at Karrakatta Cemetery on 1300 793 109.
