Families can select from a range of serenely beautiful chapels located at Karrakatta Cemetery, Fremantle Cemetery and Pinnaroo Valley Memorial Park.
Most cremations are preceded by a service in one of these chapels, culminating in the committal of the casket. The chapels are also used for services held prior to a burial service.

Chapel Times and Features
An overview of the chapels at all sites, their opening hours and features can be viewed here.
Fremantle Cemetery Chapels
There are three modern chapels at Fremantle Cemetery - the West Chapel, the East Chapel and the open-air Central Committal.
The West Chapel
The West Chapel is the largest of the three accommodating up to 220 people seated and up to a further 250 people standing. It is a bright naturally lit chapel and provides a serene ambience for a committal service.
The East Chapel
The East Chapel can accommodate up to 65 people seated and up to a further 75 people standing.
The East Chapel is also naturally lit and very suitable for smaller gatherings. A further 150 people can assemble under cover outside when the doors are open.
The East and West Chapels are both equipped with a sound system incorporating a CD player.
Outdoor Committal Area
The outdoor area is a popular choice during the summer months and provides an informal alternative to the traditional chapel environment.
Viewing Room
A viewing room is provided should families wish to remain with the casket and witness its committal to the cremator. Please advise your funeral director in advance should you wish to utilise the viewing room.
Karrakatta Cemetery Chapels
There are three indoor chapels at Karrakatta: the Norfolk, the Brown and the Dench. Karrakatta also offers an open air outdoor chapel.
All indoor chapels are air conditioned and possess high quality sound systems.
We suggest that families check with their funeral director regarding the availability of multimedia facilities.

The Norfolk Chapel
The classic Norfolk is the largest of the chapels, comfortably seating 96 people and another 114 standing. For very large funerals, additional space is available within a covered entry area with an external sound system. The Norfolk has a media gallery, organ loft and a quiet room as well as a spacious condolence lounge for receiving family and friends after the service.
The Brown Chapel
The mid-sized Brown Chapel at Karrakatta can accommodate 200 people. An external sound system and condolence lounge complete the facilities.

The Dench Chapel
For smaller funerals, the Dench Chapel provides a more intimate ambience. It is ideal for up to 80 people and includes a small condolence lounge.
The Garden Chapel
Adjacent to the indoor chapel complex is the beautiful Garden Chapel. This chapel provides a picturesque but private setting for families wishing to have an intimate service in the open air.

After-Funeral Catering
After the funeral service light food and refreshments may be served in the condolence lounge. Catering can be coordinated with the assistance and advice of your funeral director.
Karrakatta Café
Light food and refreshments are available at the Karrakatta Café. This café is located just inside the Railway Road main entrance. If you are planning to invite guests home for a post funeral wake, Karrakatta Café will be pleased to prepare food platters to collect after the service.
Funeral Protocol
There is to be a maximum of five cars in the funeral cortege – the hearse and four other cars. This limit is set for safety reasons and also to minimise traffic congestion within the cemetery. The funeral cortege will arrive at the main driveway where it will wait until the scheduled time. Mourners can wait at the ‘waiting house’ (near the café) and then follow on foot behind the cars and proceed to the chapel.
Pinnaroo Valley Memorial Park
Pinnaroo Valley offers two chapels. The chapels and condolence lounges are air conditioned and contain high quality sound/multimedia systems.
We suggest that families check with their funeral director to ensure that any multimedia presentations are compatible with the chapel facilities prior to the funeral service.
Pinnaroo Chapel
The Pinnaroo Chapel is a contemporary facility built in conjunction with the Pinnaroo Crematorium. It accommodates 300 people with seating for 118. It is equipped with technology to provide for audio-visual presentations.

Viewing Room
A viewing room is provided should the family wish to remain with the casket until its committal to the cremator.
Please contact the funeral director should you wish to make use of this facility.
Pinnaroo Café
A 70 seat café is open seven days a week to all members of the public.
After-Funeral Catering
After the funeral service light food and refreshments can be served upon request in the Pinnaroo lounge. The funeral director should be advised prior to the funeral service booking.
Gates at the Whitfords Avenue entrance are open from 5.00 am to 7.00 pm every day. There are also gates on Gibson Avenue.
